In this retelling of Juliet's story, before this book starts, Juliet still ran away with Romeo, and then said Romeo stabbed her and ate her like a zombie. So the original Shakespeare version, Juliet met Romeo, fell in love, and died for love within three days. This book mocks the original Juliet's weakness, only to have the newly improved Juliet just as fucking dumb as the original. ![]() I know I should be afraid for my future, but all I can think about is Ben. I’ll have to decide: join Romeo or let the specter of my soul take me. ![]()

If you know your Superman history, you’ll know that Superman couldn’t fly back then - Yang gives a couple of nods to this in the comic - but could only leap “20 stories”. The comic is set in 1946 Metropolis and because of this, Yang chooses to portray Superman with the power set that he had in comics back then. ![]() After reading this first issue, my answer was given to me: with tact and a clear cut reason why Superman is the good guy and why the Klan are not.įor those who may not know, this is a story adaptation of the Superman serial “The Clan of the Fiery Cross” and Yang and Gurihiru do it justice. Before this comic came out, I was very curious to see how the team of Yang and Gurihiru would tackle the subject matter of Superman going up against a fictionalized version of one of the historically large hate groups in the United States. ![]() ![]() Throughout this volume, which includes drawings from 1976 through 2013, Bunch emerges as a lens on women’s most basic insecurities, passions, reflections, and desires in the second half of the twentieth century into the twenty-first. ![]() This marks the reader’s introduction to the author’s desire to shock, enlighten, challenge, and provide cultural critique. ![]() The evening goes his way in what is patently a rape scene with graphic depictions of genitalia.
